Dessewffy, Dávid & Partners Law Office
MSI Legal & Accounting Network Worldwide

The law office has established close relationship  with a  number of  foreign  law firms, first of all with the members of MSI Legal & Accounting Network Worldwide (MSI).  MSI  is one of the largest orginazations of independent law firms, auditors and tax advisors, being present in more than 80 countries. The Law Office Dessewffy, Bellák & Partners is the only MSI member from Hungary.

This  organization  gives  its  members  all  the  international expertise that they would get from  a  multi-national law firm, including complex cross- border services without losing the focus on the local market and the benefits of the flexible operation.

The Law Office managed by Dr. Alice Dessewffy and Dr. Tamás Bellák deals  primarily with commercial, financial and real property matters. The firm provides legal advice in all fields of corporate law including such special legal fields as investment and venture capital funds, e- commerce as well as telecommunication law. The Law Firm established close cooperation with auditors, tax advisors and financial institutions both on domestic and international level, providing thereby full consulting services to its clients.

The firm provides legal  representation for major foreign  investors in  Hungary,  however, it also provides legal services for domestic clients. The firm 's clients include German, British, Austrian, Swiss, American, Dutch, Israeli and Finish investors who do business in various sectors in Hungary including property development, telecommunication, banking and public utilities. With its clientele, its high- quality services and strong international connections the firm has become a competitor to international law firms in Hungary.

Its  legal  predecessor,  Dr. Alice Dessewffy &  Partners  Law  Office  has  provided  legal services  for a number of foreign firms in their investments in Hungary, has participated in several privatization and other large projects as well as legal due diligence. The firm has gained extensive experienced in advising clients on the construction and operation of shopping malls. The firm was retained to advise on one of the biggest green field property investments in 1999. In general, one qualified lawyer and a trainee lawyer work together on a matter, with the qualified lawyer being the main client contact.

The Partners  of  the  firm  know  that  if they are  to maintain  their competitive edge and  improve  their services, the firm must prepare for Hungary 's accession to the EU. In order to gain a deeper knowledge of EU law, they have organized staff seminars and conferences.

For keeping  with  the  firm 's  image, it sets up office in the heart of  Budapest in one of the most elegant office buildings in the centre of business life, providing an adequate background for its high- standard legal services.

The Budapest office

The firm operates to the highest professional level under Lovells worldwide standards and builds and maintains strong and supportive relationships with clients.

Our commercial property practice has advised a number of both international and domestic clients on a diverse range of projects throughout Hungary. Our property team is able to advise on all aspects of property transactions including the setting up of special purpose corporate vehicles for acquisition, leasing and marketing as well as planning regulations and project finance.

We have advised companies in relation to several forms of inward investment and the Budapest office has a particular speciality in handling deals involving publicly tradable shares. The corporate practice also undertakes all types of joint venture work, private equity and project finance transactions. We also assist and advise our clients with respect to their ongoing activities in Hungary and elsewhere including the negotiation and drafting of commercial and trading agreements and all compliance related work.

The raising of funds for general corporate purposes, infrastructure, real estate and many varieties of commercial projects is an area of expertise of this office. We have excellent contacts in some of the leading banks of Hungary and with other institutions interested in providing debt and equity finance.

The increasing globalisation of the telecommunications industry and present changes in Hungarian legislation, provide enormous opportunities for business and investors in Hungary and the region.
